Mr. and Mrs. John and Pamela Douglas of Fredericksburg are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Kelly Douglas, to Matthew Maier Skladany, son of Mr. Barney Skladany of Alexandria and Ms. Toni Skladany of Potomac, Md.

Ms. Douglas received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from James Madison University and her Juris Doctor from George Mason University. She is the vice president and general counsel of the Hoffman Co. in Alexandria.

Mr. Skladany received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from James Madison University and is with the International Partnership for Microbicides, a non profit in Silver Spring, Md.

A December wedding is planned at the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg.
