A Caroline County woman was killed Monday in a head-on collision in King William County.

Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 30 around 3:45 p.m., just north of Venter Road.

State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar said the driver of a 2006 Lincoln Town Car was heading south and crossed over into the northbound lane of Route 30, striking a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup head-on.

The driver of the Lincoln, Marie R. Robinson-Jones, 62, of Caroline County, who was wearing a safety belt, died at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Henry W. Kirby, 35, of Manquin, who was wearing a safety belt, suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported by ambulance to VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Molnar said.

The King William County Sheriff's Office assisted with the ongoing state police investigation.

Route 30 was closed for approximately 90 minutes, he said.

Strong storms swept through the area Monday afternoon, but Molnar said the crash was not weather-related.
