Mr. and Mrs. Norman E. Barker of Fredericksburg are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, John Norman Barker, to Erin Elizabeth McCollum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. McCollum of State College, Pa.

John received his MBA at Strayer University in 2010. Erin received her master's in special education from Old Dominion University in 2011.

An August 2012 wedding is planned.
