Marion W. Rose

Marion Wilson Rose, 90, of Stafford County passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, at Westmoreland Rehab and Healthcare.

Mr. Rose was a native of Stafford, a son of the late Scott and Amy Rose. He was a graduate of Falmouth High School. Mr. Rose served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945 and received a Bronze Star. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Mr. Rose had retired from civil service as a heating plant operator at Marine Corps Base Quantico.

He was a longtime member and former deacon of Fairview Baptist Church. Mr. Rose loved sports and was an accomplished duckpin bowler. He was an avid fisherman, played on several area baseball and softball teams and worked with the Boy Scouts for several years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Rogers Rose; four sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Bradley and husband Tom of King George County; his beloved granddaughter, Heather Bradley of King George; sister Kathrine "Dolly" Jensen and husband Stanley of Falmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg,

A service will be held at noon Friday, July 6, at the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
