I cheered when I read the outstanding story on Bill Micks in Sunday's paper ["Since '50s, river has floated Micks' boat"].

Bill is one of the first people I met when we moved to Fredericksburg 18 years ago, and he remains one of my favorite individuals in the community.

The story did a wonderful job capturing Bill's warmth, generosity, and playfulness. While Bill and his lovely wife, Denise, are true river recreation and safety advocates, his biggest asset is a love of people.

"Here, Here!" to this fine local and most humble hero!
