Doris M. McWhirt, 89, of Spotsylvania County died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at home.
Mrs. McWhirt was a native of Spotsylvania and was raised by her grandmother, Daisy Brooks. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. McWhirt; a daughter, Sylvia M. Rankins; and a sister, Mabel Carr.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn M. Whitaker and husband Robert of Spotsylvania and Elaine Wood and husband Clint of Maysville, Ga.; brother, Robert "Tip" Hairfield and wife Ruth of Spotsylvania; three grandchildren, Derek Ingalls and wife Kim, Cameron Whitaker and wife Thuy and Candice Davis and husband Chris; and four great-grandchildren, Danielle Ingalls, Keri Ingalls, Tyler Ingalls and Kendall Davis.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A private graveside service will be held in Salem Baptist Church cemetery with Nancy Acors Lewis officiating.
