Falmouth crash kills one, injures another
One man was killed and another hurt in a single-car crash in Falmouth late Monday morning.
Virginia State Police said the driver of a Corvette convertible lost control on Manning Drive at about 11:45. The Corvette crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the road, hit a ditch and ended up overturned in the road.
Gregory Allen Hurst, 70, of Fredericksburg, the owner of the car, died at the scene. He was a passenger and was wearing his safety belt.
The driver, Aaron T. Frazier, 40, of Fredericksburg, was taken to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He also wore a safety belt.
The state police, who are continuing to investigate the crash, said speed appears to have played a role.
No charges have been filed.
The crash shut down Manning Drive, between U.S. 1 and Forbes Street, well into the afternoon.
