Charles Thedford Hedrick, 78, of Montclair went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
He was married to Grace Bradley Hedrick for 57 years. Mr. Hedrick was born in Pocahontas on March 13, 1934, to the late Virgil and Pansy Hedrick.
He retired as a major in the U.S. Marine Corps, having served two tours in Vietnam. He also worked for RESI in Arlington, Media General in Fairfax and Hoffmaster's Marina in Woodbridge. He had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Woodbridge since 1975 and served as a deacon. He was also a member of Gideons International.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons and their wives, Steven and Teri Fetheroff Hedrick and Bradley and Kimberly Shelott Hedrick, all of Fredericksburg, and Michael and Michele Wyatt Hedrick and Terry and Teresa Wheelehan Hedrick, all of Lake Ridge; grandchildren Stephanie Hedrick and husband Billy Sanders of Blackshear, Ga., Elijah and Rian Moses Hedrick of Richmond, Justin Hedrick of Woodbridge and Jennifer Hedrick of Fairfax; stepgrandchildren Ashley Morton Mackennon and husband Colin, Anthony Carro and wife Emily Shaver Carro, U.S. Army serving in Texas, Nathaniel Mason, Matthew Carro and wife Sara Basile Carro, U.S. Army serving in Afghanistan; great-grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas and Matthew Sanders of Blackshear, Isabella Carro of Fayetteville, N.C., and Isla Carro of El Paso, Texas; brother Joseph Hedrick and wife Dorma of Norfolk; and his mother-in-law, Mildred B. Porter of Montclair.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Mountcastle Turch Life Celebration Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, at Calvary Baptist Church, 15880 Crest Drive, Woodbridge. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, in Quantico National Cemetery.
