John Glover Crawford Sr., 93, formerly of Richmond, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, in Winter Garden, Fla.
Born in Richmond on Feb. 11, 1919, John loved his family above all else and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a World War II Army veteran, a clock aficionado, and a longtime volunteer at Henrico Doctors Hospital.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Catherine Illig Crawford and sons John G. Crawford Jr. of Dumfries, Thomas Crawford (Paula) of Little Rock, Ark., and William Crawford (Shelley) of Ocoee, Fla.. He is also survived by grandchildren Kelli Edwards (Isaac), Kimberly Paisley (Jason) and Katie Simpson from John; Timothy, John and Christopher Crawford from Thomas; and Melissa Dameron (Jeremy), Matthew Crawford (Leslie) and Lauren Godby (Jacob) from William. His great-grandchildren are Cameron and Liam Crawford, Josiah and Micah Dameron, Makaela Godby, Bridget Edwards and Sydney Paisley. He was beloved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with a reception immediately following.
