Stephanie Lee Hillegass, 44, of Unionville was received by her Heavenly Father on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012.

Born in Kingwood, W.Va., on Nov. 6, 1967, she spent much of her youth in Michigan before settling in Virginia in 1983.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her husband, Brian Richard Hillegass; maternal grandparents Ashford and Pearl Maxwell; and paternal grandparents Frederick and Vernace Bishop.

She is survived by her two sons, Blaine Ashford Hillegass and Christian Brian Hillegass; stepson Brandon Richard Hillegass; her mother and father, A. Lee and Shirley Bishop; brother Fred Bishop; sister-in-law Cathy Bishop; her father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Tannis Hillegass; sister-in-law Melissa Hillegass and fiance Gary Bruck; seven nieces and nephews; goddaughter Rachael Ashton; and Tracy Gue, her best friend of 30 years. She was also survived by many more beloved family and friends.

A 1985 Courtland High School graduate, Stephanie continued her education at Mary Washington College and graduated with a degree in psychology. She was a member and associate pastor at Covenant Community Christian Fellowship in Locust Grove. She and her two sons were and are very active with 4H.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Chancellor Baptist Church, Spotsylvania. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orange County 4H, Chancellor Baptist Church, or Covenant Community Christian Fellowship.
