An 82-year-old King George woman has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash last week
K.G. woman dies
A King George County woman died Tuesday of injuries she suffered in a crash last week.
Betty Lou Clift, 82, was a passenger in her 1998 Mercury Sable that was hit as it turned across State Route 3 at about 12:30 p.m. Friday, according to King George Sheriff Steve Dempsey.
The driver, 88-year-old William Anderson of Florida, was attempting to turn from eastbound Route 3 onto Lambs Creek Church Road when a westbound Volkswagen Jetta hit the Mercury's passenger side.
The speed limit where the crash happened is 55 mph. Dempsey said speed does not appear to have been a factor.
Anderson, a friend of Clift, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Matthew Zint of Tappahannock, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Anderson and Zint were wearing their seat belts. Clift was not, the sheriff said.
Dempsey said the cause of the crash is not yet clear, and the investigation is continuing.
