Westmoreland drug raid leads to arrests

An anonymous tip about a marijuana-growing operation has led to charges against two Westmoreland County men.

Westmoreland Sheriff C.O. Balderson said deputies executed a search warrant Monday night at a home in the 2200 block of Skipjack Road in Kinsale. He said the officers seized marijuana plants with a street value of $3,100, drug paraphernalia and an AK-47.

Two residents of the home were arrested without incident, he said. Timothy J. Coffaney, 52, was charged with felony manufacturing of marijuana. Scott D. Nowak, 43, was charged with possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license.

Both men appeared in Westmoreland General District Court on Tuesday and were released on personal recognizance bonds.
