Republicans and Democrats differ on the idea of regulation. Democrats push larger government, higher taxes, more programs, and tighter regulation of business and Wall Street. Why, then, do Democrats vehemently oppose voter ID requirements?
States already offer a free identification card for citizens who prove their eligibility. A pro-regulation party should embrace the much-needed and -wanted reform. However, Democrats argue against voter ID, not in the interest of American citizens or secure elections, but because they fear the requirement will cost them more votes than it will cost Republicans.
The Democratic Party is simply acting to preserve its constituency at the expense of all legitimate U.S. voters. All citizens regardless of party affiliation should proudly identify themselves as a properly registered voter. Cherish your right to vote. Ultimately, just one illegitimate vote could be the one that cancels yours out!
