Vivian Marshall Garrett, 87, of Bowling Green passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Pulaski on Nov. 13, 1924, Mrs. Garrett was a longtime member of Bowling Green United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer, helping to start the Caroline County Library and volunteering for more than 20 years with the Red Cross Bloodmobile in Caroline County. She worked for a number of years as proofreader for The Caroline Progress, but her main occupation was as homemaker for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, L. David Garret; one son, Allen Marshall Garrett; one brother, Barry Marshall; and two grandsons, Michael Deaver and Joshua Alexander. She was preceded in death by son Lawrence David Garrett.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Bowling Green United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bowling Green United Methodist Church, Box 513, Bowling Green, Va. 22427.
