This ordinance was put in place to collect money from developers to pay for road improvements. I urge Stafford residents to tell the board that we need funding from impact fees to pay for road improvements. Developers should not get a free ride!
Stafford supervisors have decided to repeal the current ordinance, claiming they will replace it in the future with a new ordinance. But the new ordinance will exempt developers that are currently paying the fee.
After the ordinance is repealed some developers will fight the new ordinance, making it difficult for the board to pass it. It is my feeling that the board will repeal the old ordinance and stall on the new one.
Stafford residents overwhelmingly voted for the transportation bond referendum with the understanding that transportation impact fees were going to be used to pay for the bonds. Stafford supervisors should not be playing smoke and mirrors with our transportation funding.
