Gertrude Stanford Kardos, 90, of Richmond died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012.
She was born in Elmhurst, N.Y. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edward Kardos; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ilona and Stephen Tonelson of Norfolk and Joan and Christopher Gutridge of Ruther Glen; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Susan Kardos of Mechanicsville and Edward and Kristin Kardos of Richmond; grandchildren Claire and David Murphy of Santa Cruz, Calif., Rachel Tonelson of Istanbul, Cara and Benjamin Demeter of Richmond, Matthew and Melissa Gutridge of Williamsburg, and Zach, Kate, Samantha, Stephanie, Mary and Elizabeth Kardos, all of Richmond.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, followed by interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
