This is about cab fare for people who are in need in our community but can't afford it. The rate within the city is controlled, but as soon as you leave Fredericksburg the rates skyrocket. Those of us who live outside the FRED bus service area and who are trying to commute are hurt.
It cost me $23 to go from the city limits to Salem Fields from one cab company. A representative from another told me he couldn't help me after a quote of $35.
I am ashamed of my DUIs, and I did my community service, but this is gouging on the part of cab companies. I want Spotsylvania County to reinstate the bus service to our communities.
