Billy Freddy Coleman, 65, originally from Drill, lost his courageous battle with cancer Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012.
Billy retired from the Central Intelligence Agency after 29 years of serving the United States both domestically and abroad. Following his retirement, he used his experience and knowledge to protect this country's security as a private government contractor working out of several undisclosed locations.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 42 years, Delores Anne; his father, Leeman Coleman; and brother Donald Coleman.
Billy is survived by his mother, Irene Coleman; two brothers, John Coleman and James Carl Coleman; and his sister, Kathy Jones. He is also survived by three daughters, Nona Smith and her husband, Shawn, Leigh-Anne Nagosky and her husband, Michael, and Amber Staton. He was a proud "PawPaw" to six grandchildren and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Billy was a man who enjoyed the many friendships he forged along life's path. In honor of his fun-loving, generous spirit, a celebration of life gathering is planned for a later date.
The family requests donations be made to the Thomas Palliative Care Fund at VCU Massey Cancer Center, Box 843042, Richmond, Va. 23284-3042 or to the charity of one's choice.
