Sharon S. O'Bannon, 60, of Fredericksburg died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her loving father, E.T. "Sonny" Singleton.

Sharon was the beloved wife of J. Kevin O'Bannon; and a devoted mother to her children, Justin and Lauren Yates, and her stepchildren, Jamin and Justin O'Bannon. She is also survived by her mother, Nancy Singleton; her brothers, Tom and Scott Singleton; and her niece, Nichole Singleton.

Born March 12, 1952, Sharon was a graduate of the University of Mary Washington. A lifelong educator and mentor to many, she retired from teaching at Fredericksburg Academy in 2004. Following her teaching career, she developed many friendships working at the Imaging Center for Women.

An avid reader, she had a love for books and the English language. She had the opportunity to travel throughout the world and was particularly fond of the Mediterranean. Sharon was the consummate host and chef, always bringing family together for joyful holiday celebrations. She adored animals, especially her beloved dog Wilson.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at St. George's Episcopal Church.
