Catherine S. Phillips, 75, of Fredericksburg passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at her residence.
Mrs. Phillips was a longtime resident of Fredericksburg and had worked as a registered nurse for Mary Washington Hospital.
She was fond of fishing and loved tending her garden and caring for her pets.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard Phillips Sr., in February 1992.
She is survived by her children, Charles Richard Phillips Jr. and wife Debbie, Catherine Elise Ortiz, and Robert Kevin Phillips and wife Jacquelyn; brother Robert Duvall Sullivan; sister Patricia Adele Decatur; and eight grandchildren, Amanda, Megan, Kaitlan, Hannah, Nathan, John, Tess and Matthew.
A memorial service will be held at Hollywood Church of the Brethren at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Catherine's name to the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA, 10819 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22408.
