At the new Stafford High School, many challenges are left to resolve. My complaint has been about the absence of a practice field for the athletic students at SHS during construction. No one has come up with a meaningful solution on how this will affect parents, students, staff, and transportation.
Busing the student-athletes is a logistical nightmare, especially with heavy commuter traffic increasing the liability for property damage and bodily injury. Besides, student-athletes cannot afford to lose the advantage of tutoring or other educational tools to maintain academics.
Also, findings show that the auto-tech department has been eliminated from the school plan all together. I guess there was a good reason to discontinue learning a trade that can land a job quickly and be an excellent career opportunity.
Also, we, the voting taxpayers, want to know how this construction will affect site security while students are continuing to use the campus of SHS during the school day. We need to know.
