Myrtle Lucille Sams, 85, of Stafford County passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Woodmont Center in Stafford.

She was born June 3, 1927, in Covington, a daughter of Delia and Vessie Humphries. She was the youngest of 18 children. She was the wife of the late Edwin R. Sams, Sr.

Survivors include two sons, Edwin R. Jr. and Gary Nelson, and daughter-in-law Janet, all of Stafford; five grandchildren and their spouses, Tina and Kevin Kennedy, Kimberly and Scot Shupp, Julie and Michael Turner, Christopher and Lisa Sams and Danny and Angela Sams; 12 great-grandchildren, Justin, Patrick, Emily, Ryan, Meghan, Erik, Mikey, Hunter, Devon, Madison, Donovin and Brianna.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct 1, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
