John B. Morton Jr., 48, of Fredericksburg died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in an airplane crash in Spotsylvania County beside his son, Kyle John Morton.

John had previously worked for United Airlines at Reagan National Airport for 14 years. He was currently employed by the FBI at Quantico. John held a master's degree in computer information systems. He had an avid interest in aviation.

Survivors include his wife, Kristy Morton; daughter Adriane Morton; mother Catherine Morton of Columbia, S.C.; sister Linda Morton of Tennessee; in-laws Marge and Oliver Parson of Fredericksburg; sister-in-law Mindy Ball of Fredericksburg; brother-in-law Greg Parson of Utah; six nieces; and one nephew.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 5, at the Fredericksburg Expo Center. Interment will follow in Lakewood Cemetery in Bowling Green.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Morton Family Memorial Fund at any PNC Bank.
