Arlene L. Jackson

Arlene Louise Jackson, 83, passed away in Stafford County on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, after an extended illness.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, George A. Licht and Mary Boxlightner, and brother Carl Licht.

She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Jackson; brothers George Licht, Bill Licht and Otto Licht; and her children, son Clayton E. Jackson and wife Lynne of Torrance, Calif.; son Stuart Jackson and wife Natalie of Missouri City, Texas, and daughter, Tanya Holland and husband Greg of Stafford. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, granddaughter Ryan Holland and grandson Reese Holland of Stafford, granddaughters Cheyenne Jackson and Hailey Jackson, both of Torrance, and granddaughters Sierra and Olivia Jackson and grandson George Jackson, all of Missouri City; and several nieces and nephews.

Arlene was born July 28, 1929, in Johnstown, Pa. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in dietetics. She then served in the U.S. Air Force, advancing to the rank of first lieutenant. She and Donald married in 1958. Arlene accomplished much during their life together. She worked as a dietitian and a teacher and was a successful Realtor. She also established flourishing nursery schools in two different communities.

Arlene enjoyed traveling in her free time. She was able to visit more than 60 countries. She was also an excellent cook and wrote her own cookbook.

Arlene was a member of Potomac Valley Church of Christ while living in Stafford.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Home, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, Va. 22554. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15. in Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Potomac Valley Chapter of HOPE worldwide for the Monteverde Project, 3704 Dalebrook Drive, Dumfries, Va. 22025.
