Ruth Bruce Finney, 93, of Spotsylvania County died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at home.

Mrs. Finney's granddaughter, Samantha, took care of her for 11 months prior to her passing.

Survivors include her son, SGM Ret. Thomas W. Finney Jr. and his wife, Patricia P. Finney, of Fayetteville, N.C.; her sister, Rachel B. Farmer of Port Royal; her grandchildren, Teresa F. Piza, Samantha Finney and Elizabeth Finney; and her great-grandchildren, Alexander W. Piza-Finney and Jessyca E. Piza-Finney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Finney.

A service will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the funeral home.
