City man accused
A Fredericksburg man was charged with attempted murder following a domestic altercation late Monday with his live-in girlfriend, police said.
City police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said the incident took place about 10:50 p.m. on Keavy Court in the Crestview apartment complex. Four adult residents were in the apartment when the man became upset about something the girlfriend and another woman were discussing regarding Facebook.
Witnesses said the man grabbed a large knife, grabbed the 25-year-old victim by the hair and threatened repeatedly to stab her in the face and in the head. He also stabbed at her and missed, police said, and broke her phone during the altercation.
The other woman called police, and the man was gone when police arrived. Detective Carlos Reyes talked to the victim, who doesn't speak English.
Reyes went to a magistrate and got a warrant for attempted murder against 31-year-old Jose del Cid-Hernandez.
Hernandez was arrested by Stafford County authorities late Tuesday morning at his job in Stafford and turned over to city detectives.
