After Sandy, Cox Cable offers thanks

Hurricane Sandy was originally expected to be a powerful storm with impacts rivaling Hurricane Irene last year. Fortunately for all of us, it did not cause that level of devastation here.

Yet we recognize that some of our friends and neighbors have experienced damage to their homes or businesses as a result of the storm. Many in our community also have loved ones in the badly devastated Northeast.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected as they begin to recover.

We would like to thank our governor, other state and local leaders, emergency responders, our utility partners, the local media, and the people of Fairfax County and Fredericksburg. Your early preparations to get the community ready were vital and enabled quick deployment of resources after the storm.

We are especially grateful for the outstanding support of our partners in local and state emergency operations centers. These professionals were essential in Cox's restoration efforts.

A huge thank you also goes to Dominion Virginia Power and NOVEC and their crews, who worked around the clock to restore power to the many residents affected by power outages.

I also want to thank the thousands of Cox employees in Virginia for their commitment to our customers that allowed us to quickly restore service. Your willingness to work tirelessly to ensure that we were able to meet the needs of our customers--friends and neighbors in the community--is to be applauded.

To our customers whose Cox services were impacted by the storm, thank you for your patience. Our primary focus has been to help you get your life back to normal. Our thousands of employees have worked diligently to restore services as quickly and safety as possible. That's what friends and neighbors do.

It is incredible partnerships like these that make this community such a wonderful place to live and work.
