HH "ALEX CROSS" (PG-13) Tyler Perry's first action outing is a dud, with a dull plot but a decent crazed criminal. Rated PG-13 for violence including disturbing images, sexual content, language, drug references, and nudity. 101 min. [RF]

HHH "ARGO" (R) This retelling of a plan to get hidden hostages out of Iran--with agents posing as a Canadian film crew making a sci-fi film--is perfectly paced and grippingly told, the best film of the year so far. Rated R for language and violent images. 120 min. [PV, RA]

HH "FLIGHT" (R) Denzel Washington makes this interesting as a pilot who saves a crashing plane, but his character's descent into alcoholism is just dull. Rated R for drug and alcohol abuse, language, sexuality/nudity and an intense action sequence. 138 min. [MC, RA, RF]

HH "HERE COMES THE BOOM" (PG) Kevin James is talented, but can't save this film that strains credibility by casting him as a martial arts fighter trying to save his school. Rated PG for rude humor, language and sport violence. 105 min. [RF]

HH "HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA" (PG) While nothing deep, this tale of Dracula worrying about his daughter leaving the nest is funny and fine for kids. Rated PG for some rude humor, action and scary images. 95 min. [RF]

HHH "LINCOLN" (PG-13) Daniel Day-Lewis delivers a definitive and inspiring portrayal of Abraham Lincoln as he works to pass the amendment abolishing slavery. Though it's slow and talky at times, a great cast and the subject matter make it impressive. Rated PG-13 for an intense scene of war violence, images of carnage and brief strong language. 149 min. [MC, PV, RA]

H "THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS" (R) Not every singer or rapper can act or make a decent movie, which is what's at work here in this poorly executed martial arts movie starring and directed by RZA. Rated R for bloody violence, strong sexuality, language, drug use. 96 min. [RF]

HHH "SKYFALL" (PG-13) The tough James Bond is back in this tale that has him battling to save his boss, M, from a terrorist. There are beautiful Bond girls, great locations and action. But thankfully, on this 50th anniversary, it's back to Bond against the bad guys, using his fists, gun and wits. Rated PG-13 for violent sequences throughout, sexuality, language and smoking. 143 min. [MC, PV, RA]

HHH "WRECK-IT RALPH" (PG) An unexpectedly cute and cool-looking animated tale of a "bad guy" character in a video game who goes rogue to win respect. Rated PG for some rude humor and mild action/violence. 101 min. [MC, RA, RF]
