Let's not discriminate against gay people

I am writing in response to the gentleman who wrote the letter to the editor, "No constitutional 'right' to gay marriage" [Nov. 8]. In his letter, he said gay marriage wasn't "beneficial" to society.

Is straight marriage beneficial? Homosexuals want the same right as heterosexuals: to marry whom they choose. What is the problem?

Love is love, no matter what sexual preference you have. How would the writer like it if someone told him that he couldn't marry a woman? It would probably infuriate him.

Kids get bullied and commit suicide because they are raised with others' hateful values, such as to discriminate against someone because of being gay.

If my children grow up like that, not only would I be disappointed with myself as a parent, but as a human being. Learn some compassion, people. Your actions may change the course of someone's life drastically.
