Man reports bizarre assault to city police
In a strange incident early Friday morning, a man who works at a downtown Fredericksburg business reported that an assailant put a gun to his head and threatened to shoot him.
The assailant did not demand anything from the victim, but allegedly tossed a brick through the window of a business before fleeing.
Fredericksburg police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said the department is investigating the report.
The victim told police that the incident happened at about 4 a.m. when he was walking in the 600 block of Caroline Street, headed toward Lafayette Boulevard.
He said a man approached from behind, put a gun to his head and threatened to shoot him.
The victim said the assailant then picked up a brick and tossed it through a window of the Picket Post, which set off the alarm in the Civil War military antiques store, according to the police report.
The man said the attacker then ran from the scene toward Sophia Street.
The victim described the assailant as a Hispanic male wearing a hoodie, shorts and knee-high white socks. He had a mustache and short, dark hair with some gray.
