We'd better have a spiritual check-up

Maryella Reed's Thanksgiving Day letter to the editor was poignant as well as heart-rending ["A father's grief," Nov. 22].

Her story points out that more important than evaluating a presidential election, our nation needs to evaluate where we stand with the Lord God of the universe.

Our Creator has given us clear guidelines to follow in His Word. Two of His most crucial guidelines are as follows: "[A] man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they will become one flesh." (Genesis 2:24)

The family unit is the building block upon which a nation's foundation stands. It does not include adultery, polygamy, homosexuality, or immoral living.

Deuteronomy 30:15 says, "See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction."

May we also choose life for our innocent, unborn babies who deserve protection and the life the Lord has chosen for them to live.

May we as a nation "run into the arms of the Father" to ask for His forgiveness and His wisdom to become the nation He has called us to be.
