Many unsung heroes assist MW Hospice in its comforting work

I am privileged and honored to be able to thank a group of unsung heroes--those local businesses that supported Mary Washington Hospice's Grapes in the Garden Wine Tasting.

In our lifetimes, we have the potential to lose several of those we love. It can be one of the most challenging experiences we face. But there is help--and hope--thanks to hospice care.

Mary Washington Hospice helps patients and families coordinate care and pain management with their physicians. We provide spiritual counseling to patients, support loved ones, and offer bereavement support after the patient has passed.

Mary Washington Hospice provides this invaluable end-of-life care for thousands in our region. For those services not covered by insurance and for those patients without insurance, we cover the cost of care. To offset these costs, Mary Washington Hospice hosts an annual wine-tasting fundraiser.

In addition to our fabulous volunteers who work the event, we ask for financial sponsors and for food, wine, and beer vendors to donate their wares at no cost to us. This year, our unsung heroes helped us raise $25,000!

The next time you run into one of Mary Washington Hospice's heroes, please help us by saying thanks.
