Dolores M. Pastell, 91, of Fredericksburg passed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Pastell was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

She was a devoted wife and most loving mother and grandmother. All who met her commented on how very sweet she was. We, her family, best knew her for her faith in God and her prayers for all of us; those prayers will follow us all of our lives. It's a wonderful legacy she leaves to us; she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Joanne Thornburn, Donna Johnson, Scott Pastell, Gary Pastell, Teresa Pitner, Mary Pastell and April Mason; 25 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. John S. Pastell.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
