Norma Lee Walker, 92, of Spotsylvania County passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Southerland Place Assisted Living in Midlothian.
Mrs. Walker was a lifelong member of Zoan Baptist Church and was the church's first female deacon. Mrs. Walker, a graduate of Mary Washington College, was a beloved third-grade schoolteacher and retired from Chancellor Elementary School. She was very dedicated to her church and family. The doors of her home were always open. Her greatest enjoyment in life was doing for others.
Survivors include son Bernard W. Walker and his wife, Barbara; daughter-in-law Barbara Jean Walker; sister Virginia Morgan; grandchildren Sharon W. Herron, Catherine W. Tompkins, Stephen W. Walker and Karla J. Lanham; great-grandchildren Blake and Savannah Walker, Jessica Proffitt, Curtis and Caitlin Myzie, Danielle and Zachery Lloyd, Nathan and Madison Lanham and Joshua S. Herron; and great-great-grandson Tucker Lee Proffitt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Walker Sr.; and son Carl W. Walker Jr.
A service will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in her name in memory of her son C.W. to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
