Jodi Marie Spafford, 69, of Fredericksburg passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.
Jodi was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. As a marriage and family therapist in Fredericksburg for many years, Jodi touched the lives of her treasured clients.
Her greatest pride was her children, Jennifer Spafford Cooley and Todd Spafford; her son-in-law, Steve Cooley; and her beloved grandchildren, Nick and Katie Mueda and Teren and Ty Cooley.
She missed her parents, Frank and Marie Opdyke, loved her older brother, Bruce Opdyke and his wife, Kathy, and enjoyed lifelong friendships from her home state of California. Jodi was a tough warrior with a tender heart.
As a survivor of cancer in her 20s, she battled many health conditions in recent years with incredible vigor and optimism. It was in her final battle with a new cancer that her body finally let go. Jodi was surrounded by her family, love and peace as she transitioned to be with God.
Jodi's life will be celebrated locally at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, and on a later date near her cherished mountains in California. Friends wearing comfortable clothes in bright colors are invited to the service and a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Healing Hunter Foundation are appreciated.
