Spotsylvania woman arrested in Dumfries

A Spotsylvania County woman faces several charges, including assault on a police officer in Prince William County.

Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department said the woman was arrested Sunday night for driving under the influence of alcohol after a crash in the 17100 block of Dumfries Road in Dumfries.

While being processed at the Garfield Police Station, Perok said the woman pushed the arresting officer.

The officer was able to secure the woman and no one was injured, Perok said.

Kelly Henson Hood, 30, of MacNamara Drive in Spotsylvania, is charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, obstruction of justice and unreasonable refusal.

She is being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center.

A court date is scheduled for Feb. 8.
