Thank you to Scott Howson ["Weakened middle class drives fiscal malaise," Dec. 19] for his eloquent and concise commentary on how we can all contribute to rebuilding the economy.

While there is no quick fix, we can start today by insisting our American companies bring jobs back to America.

We can no longer survive by just being innovative--we must be productive, too. As Howson pointed out, buying American goods creates American jobs, which will in turn give Americans back their independence and financial security.
