(NR) "CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: WORLDS AWAY" Two young people journey to find each other. Not rated. 91 min. [RF]

HH "DJANGO UNCHAINED" (R) After an interesting start, director Quentin Tarantino gives in to overindulgence in excessively bloody violence, extended repartee and scenes that go on forever. Rated R for strong graphic violence throughout, a vicious fight, language and some nudity. 141 min. [MC, RA, RF]

HH "THE GUILT TRIP" (PG-13) This tale of a mother and son taking a cross-country trip is more sweet than funny, a fact that's both its strength and its weakness. Fans of the mom, Barbra Streisand, will enjoy it more than those of the son, Seth Rogen. Rated PG-13 for language and some risque material. 96 min. [RF]

HHH "THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY" (PG-13) Though it's a bit bloated, especially at the beginning, this return to the world of Tolkien has enough of the magic that Peter Jackson created in the "Lord of the Rings" films to satisfy, especially for fans of the series. Rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action violence, frightening images. 169 min. [MC, RA, RF]

HH "JACK REACHER" (PG-13) An unexpectedly good tale of an unorthodox investigator who has inside information on a man accused of gunning down several people. Tom Cruise makes this work, with a good performance from Rosamund Pike. Rated PG-13 for violence, language and some drug material. 130 min. [MC, PV, RA]

HHH "LES MISÉRABLES (PG-13) With strong acting and singing performances from most of the talented cast, this musical makes a triumphant jump to the big screen. Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne and especially Anne Hathaway give inspired performances. Rated PG-13 for suggestive and sexual material, violence, thematic elements. 158 min. [MC, PV, RA]

HHH "LIFE OF PI" (PG) Only the ending--which will leave some scratching their heads--takes the glow from this stunning visual achievement from director Ang Lee. Rated PG for emotional thematic content throughout, and some scary action sequences and peril. 125 min. [RF]

HHH "LINCOLN" (PG-13) Daniel Day-Lewis delivers a definitive and inspiring portrayal of Abraham Lincoln as he works to pass the amendment abolishing slavery. Though it's slow and talky at times, a great cast and the subject matter make it impressive. Rated PG-13 for an intense scene of war violence, images of carnage, strong language. 149 min. [PV]

HHH "MONSTERS, INC." (G) Monsters used to doing the scaring get terrified. 92 min. Rated G. [RF]

HH "PARENTAL GUIDANCE" (PG) Billy Crystal has a few funny moments, but not enough to make this anything but a mediocre comedy about grandparents caring for grandkids. Rated PG for suggestive, sexual material, violence, thematic elements. 105 min. [MC, PV, RA]

HHH "SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK" (R) Though it takes a while to find its footing, this film about a young man struggling with his bipolar condition succeeds because of a sensitive script and strong performances from its leads. Rated R for language, sexual content/nudity. 122 min. [PV]

HHH "SKYFALL" (PG-13) The tough James Bond is back in this tale that has him battling to save his boss, M. There are beautiful Bond girls, great locations and action. But thankfully, on this 50th anniversary, it's back to Bond against the bad guys, using his fists, gun and wits. Rated PG-13 for violent sequences throughout, sexuality, language and smoking. 143 min. [PV]

(NR) "TEXAS CHAINSAW" (R) A young woman travels to Texas to collect an inheritance, encountering a chainsaw-wielding killer. With Alexandra Daddario, Tania Raymonde, Trey Songz. Rated R for strong grisly violence, and for language throughout. 92 min. [MC, RA, RF]

HH "THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, PART 2" (PG-13) Newcomers won't be dazzled, but longtime fans who've followed the popular supernatural story of werewolves and vampires will feel this finishes things out nicely. Rated PG-13 for sequences of violence including disturbing images, some sensuality and partial nudity. 116 min. [PV]

HH "THIS IS 40" (R) This catch-up with characters from "Knocked Up" has some sweet and telling moments and an interesting cast. Unfortunately, it also has a whininess that irritates, especially when it drags on far too long. Rated R for sexual content, crude humor, pervasive language, drug material. 134 min. [RF]
