Nurse Kitzi Moore will be recalled with love

When I received word that Mrs. Catherine (Kitzi) Moore, a retired registered nurse with the Spotsylvania County Health Department, had passed, I was flooded with memories of this gracious person with a beautiful spirit, soft-spoken voice, and smile who went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that her patients were taken care of in a dignified manner.

I was always amazed that Kitzi was more knowledgeable about the conditions of her patients than their own physicians. She advised many families, including mine, about the condition and long-term prognosis of a loved one.

Kitzi prepared each family for what was about to happen in the end. Long before anyone had heard the term "hospice care," Kitzi Moore was the "Godmother of Hospice" for the way she tended to the end-stage care of her patients.

To her husband, Dover, her son, Frank, her daughter, Kitty, and her grandson, Austin, I want to say "thanks" for being so unselfish in sharing your wife, mother, and grandmother with so many people whose lives she touched beyond measure.

Without question, Kitzi Moore made a lasting impact on this world and a difference in people's lives through her personality and in the way she conducted her life, which spoke volumes and influenced everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Kitzi, rest in peace. You will be dearly missed.
