George Edgar Livingston, 84, of Rhoadesville died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at his home.
Born in Camden, N.J., he was a decorated World War II veteran. George enlisted in the Merchant Marine at the age of 16, at the outbreak of war. Upon his 18th birthday, he was able to enlist in the Navy and served until the end of the war. He returned to Maryland, where he met and married the love of his life, Betty Kathleen Vermillion. They had six children. He retired as a maintenance foreman from General Electric in 1991.
George is survived by five of his children: four sons, James W. Livingston of Rhoadesville, Bruce E. Livingston of Fredericksburg, John L. Livingston and his wife, Sue, of Petersburg and George M. Livingston and his wife, Patty, of Henderson, Nev.; and one daughter, Barbara A. Brotherton and her husband, Terrence, of Clifton; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his bride, Betty K. Livingston; and one son, Robert David Livingston.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Rhoadesville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Nancy Stanton McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at
