The Rev. David "Sam" Pearson Sr. of Birchwood, Tenn., passed away unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.
Sam was born June 7, 1945, in Alexandria and reared in Brentsville. He graduated from Gar-Field High School in 1963, Pensacola Christian College in 1983 and Pensacola Theological Seminary.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Irma Pearson; sons and daughter-in-law, David Pearson Jr. of Arlington and Michael and Gina Pearson, of Ooltewah, Tenn.; sisters Mary Pumphrey and Pat Turner; brother Bud Pearson; four grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Taylor and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Pearson pastored the Lake of the Woods Baptist Church in Spotsylvania County for four years and then Flat Run Baptist Church in Locust Grove for 11 years until he retired.
