Nathaniel Wilson "Nathan" Holmes, 78, of St. Stephens Church departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Retreat Hospital in Richmond.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Sue Holmes; six daughters, Cynthia Holmes, Wanda Holmes of Tappahannock, Karen McCoy (Victor) of Kinsale, Tammey Holmes of Tappahannock, Marsha Hays (Darren) of Freeman and Regina Jules of McLean; a son, Leon Hence (Gale) of King William; three stepchildren, Angela Taylor, Malenda Jordan and Eugene Sayles (Teresa); and one sister, Martha Moore of Killeen, Texas.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Washington Funeral Home, 1404 Tappahannock Blvd., Tappahannock. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Beulah Baptist Church in Minor, with the Rev. Floyd Johnson, pastor, officiating.
