I agree with the statements of Sister Mary Ellen Lacy in the news story "Nun advocates for health care" [Dec. 19]. This is an obvious case for social justice when Medicaid expands next year.
The sister is correct when she says, "Access to health care shouldn't depend on where a person works, where they live, or how much your family earns." She continued, "Every person is created in the image and likeness of God, and all have a right to life and those things that sustain that life."
Unfortunately, the Pat Robertson-educated governor of our state doesn't believe in social justice as Jesus did. Sorry, Republican politics often doesn't jibe with what our Savior taught us. And the federal government is paying 100 percent of the Medicaid expansion over the next three years, and 90 percent until 2021.
Is Gov. McDonnell so influenced by the god of money that he loses the God of his baptism? I urge readers to contact him and ask him to include Virginia in the Medicaid expansion.
