Many made my wife's passing more tolerable

On behalf of the McCracken family, we would like to publicly say "thank you" for all of the kindnesses, tendernesses, and love given to my wife, Ida McCracken, for the last 14 months. Words cannot express my thankfulness to neighbors and community.

I want to recognize my caregivers who came daily, week after week, making our days easier: Betty Jo, Angel, Michelle, and Pat. Many thanks! Also Mary Washington Hospice and three women in particular: Dee, Tina, and Jessie. They, too, became a part of our family. Also, my weekend girls: Tracy, Nail, Ebony, Kendra, Charlotte, and others. Many thanks!

Ida and I have been a part of the VFW, American Legion, Honor Guard, and Ladies Auxiliary for many years and have come to know John and David Mullins at Covenant Funeral Home very well since 1976. I thank John and David, Shirley, and the staff there for their expertise with grace in helping us at this time.

A memorial service will be held for Ida at Covenant Funeral Home (Fredericksburg) on March 9 at 2 p.m. Please join us in remembering her life.
