Head Start

The Summit Presbyterian Church "Coats for Kids Program," hosted by Penny Einarsen, has greatly supported Head Start for many years by not only providing coats for children, but for adults as well.

Students of the Week were Malakhi Posey, Nancy Medina, Kristina Law, Emma Nicol, Sandra Medrano-Frias, Alayah Nelson, Emmanuel Mayorga, Alisson Robles-Nava, Justin Mott, Perelli Stroman, Isaiah Parker, Brianna Tadlock, Caden Mutispaugh, Edward Marte and Alis Ramirez-Lazo.

Employees of the Month were Sue Shafferman, Judy Carmel, Brenda Spencer-Wells, Adrienne Bovan, Nicki Johnson, Robin Migaleddi, Patsy Hall, Jane Barry, Jenny Errico and Debbie Adkins.

Volunteers of the Month were Marlita Henry, Martha Mayorga, Karla Law, Takia Brown, Sandra Chavez, Eileen Delewski and Pamela McCauley.

Children recognized for character education in "courage" for the month of January were Kaylee Turner, Emmanuel Arnold, Tatjana Jones, Anthony Gonzalez, Christopher Robinson, Jaylen Smith, Justin Reynoso, Alexander Coulombe, Jordy Jandres-Aveleyra, Julian Weaver, Christopher Keating Jr., Josiah Swartwood, Londyn McAllen, Courtney Trimble, Lizbeth Martinez-Lopez and Rodrigo Castro.

The following students will represent Gayle Middle School in the 2013 Stafford County Public Schools All-District Band: Sarah Dziekowicz, first chair oboe symphonic band; Demitri Funnell, first chair clarinet symphonic band; Nicole Newcomb, brass clarinet symphonic band; Jack Kenny, third chair alto sax symphonic band; Francisco Tueros, flute concert band; Ashley Overton, flute concert band; Natalie Mullanaphy, clarinet concert band; Colin Haines, baritone concert band; Ciera Henderson, percussion concert band; and Nolan Jordan, tuba concert band.

The concert will be held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 9 at North Stafford High School.
