Amos C. Thompson

Amos C. Thompson, 92, of Partlow passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Spotsylvania County on March 18, 1921, to the late Coleman J. Thompson and Julia Green Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired as a machine operator at the FMC Plant. He was a lifelong member of First New Hope Baptist Church.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucille B. Thompson and a son, Garry Thompson. He is survived by his sons, Melvin Thompson (Geneva), Ronald Thompson (Judith) and Kevin Thompson; daughters Carolyn Jones and Sharon Johnson (Clifton); and daughter-in-law Alice Thompson.

There will be a viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home. A homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at First New Hope Baptist Church, Partlow, with the Rev. Gilbert Garcia officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, in Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund.
