Randall Bledsoe

Randall Garnett Bledsoe, 53, a native of Charlottesville, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at his residence in Chesapeake.

He was a beloved husband, father and son.

Randall was born on May 12, 1960, in Charlottesville, the son of Robert Garnett and June Verling Bledsoe of Rhoadesville.

In addition to his parents, Randall is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marilyn McIntyre Bledsoe of Chesapeake, formerly of Charlottesville; two sons, Matthew McIntyre Bledsoe and his wife, Kathryn, of Charlottesville and Logan Garnett Bledsoe and his fiancee, Stephanie Rothwell, of Fredericksburg; a brother, Jerry Verling Bledsoe and his wife, Dee Bond Bledsoe, of Rhoadesville; three nieces; four nephews; and his beloved dog, Bentley.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Jay Bledsoe.

Randall received a bachelor's degree from Bridgewater College in psychology and a master's degree in business administration from Averett University. At the time of his death he was pursuing his doctorate. His dream was to teach his craft to young people.

Randall and his wife recently relocated to Chesapeake to begin his new career with Amerigroup Corp. as director of health plan services. He was also active in many health care organizations and received many service awards and recognitions over his 35-year career.

Randall enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on the weekends. He enjoyed reading, watching football, listening to music and attending concerts with his wife. He will be missed by his family and the many friends he leaves behind.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Rhoadesville Baptist Church, 26042 Lafayette Drive, Rhoadesville, VA 22542. A gathering of family and friends will be held immediately after the service at the home of Randall's parents at 26123 Lafayette Drive, Rhoadesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Charlottesville SPCA, 3355 Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
