John F. Miller

John Franklin Miller, 89, of Lake of the Woods died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community. Born Aug. 3, 1924, in Fauquier County, he was a son of Frank and Gladys Griffith Miller.

Mr. Miller was a member of Arlington Baptist Church in Arlington. He was a graduate of Marshall High School in Marshall and the American Institute of Banking. He served with the Army in Africa and Europe during World War II and was awarded three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.

Mr. Miller was employed for 43 years as a banker, beginning with Marshall National Bank of Marshall, transferring to Arlington Trust Company, Arlington, which merged into First American Bank, Tysons Corner, from which he retired in 1986 as senior vice president.

Surviving Mr. Miller are his siblings, Mary Ellen Miller of Culpeper, William Townsend Miller of Warrenton and Henry Leroy Miller of Culpeper.

There will be no service. Mr. Miller will be laid to rest with his mother and late brother Daniel Banks Miller Sr. in Warrenton Cemetery, Warrenton.
