Tyrone M. Maxwell

Retired 1st Sgt. Tyrone Martinz Maxwell, 56, of Stafford County passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.

Tyrone was a member of the United Faith Christian Ministry in Stafford. He touched many lives and formed many lifelong friendships. His dedication to serving others was such that despite his health challenges he triumphantly continued to be a beacon of light during his most trying times.

Tyrone leaves to cherish his memory and life, his mother, Alberta Lockett; a brother, Tony Maxwell of Jamestown, N.Y.; four sisters, Brenda Maxwell of Rochester, N.Y.; Katrina "Tina" Triado (Eddie), Joequetta Cuyler (Larry), Sherry Watts, all of Dunkirk, N.Y.; two special nephews, Travis Maxwell Sr. (Charlene) of Dunkirk, and Nicholas "Mann" Singer (Sarah); Henrietta Simpson of Altamonte Springs, Fla., whom he affectionately referred to as his second mother; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Maxwell; and his stepfather, Johnny Lockett.

A service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at United Faith Christian Ministry, 150 Susa Drive, Stafford.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tyrone Maxwell Higher Education Fund, 93 Lincoln Ave., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
