Joel Bounds

Joel Shelby Bounds, 89, of Woodford passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at his home.

Joel was a founding partner of Colonial Builders of Fredericksburg with his son Joel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion of Beaverdam.

Joel was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher at Ladysmith Baptist Church. He loved hunting and woodworking and was a gospel musician.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois A. Bounds; two sons, Joel D. Bounds and his wife, Wanda, of Florida and Shelby L. Bounds and his wife, Donna, of Ladysmith; two daughters, Patricia B. Gandee and her husband, John, and Audrey M. Davis and her husband, Kollon, all of Wooodford; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.

Joel's family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Bethany Baptist Church, 6519 Marye Road, Woodford. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
